There are nine elements in Monster Legends. They are Fire, Nature, Magic, Light, Dark, Earth, Thunder, Water, and the special Legendary element.Water elements also are good against fire and legendary elements are good against dark, fire, water, thunder, magic, earth, nature and light.
The element which a particular monster belongs to determines which of the habitats it can be placed in after being hatched. Monsters must be placed in a habitat which corresponds to their element. Fire type monsters for example must be placed in a Fire Habitat whilst a Fire and Earth hybrid may be placed in either an Earth Habitat or a Fire Habitat or a Water and Magic hybrid could be put in a Magic Habitat or a Water Habitat.
In Monster Legends, monsters are restricted from leveling above Level 10 without the aid of a temple . These temples must also correspond to the element of the particular monster that the player wishes to enhance. For example, a thunder monster requires a Thunder Temple before it can advance above level 10. Hybrid monsters require temples of both elements before they can level up.
The various elements also determines success or failure in battle.
Dual element monsters typically have the combined weaknesses and resistances of both elements. But if (such as fire/nature) a monster would be weak to an element(in this case fire) AND resistant, the resistance overrides the weakness. Thus a fire/nature monster has only one weakness.
This chart shows the results of using an attack in battle.
